The agriculture and rural development programme help the Vietnamese authority to enhance their monitoring and evaluation system. Ownership, simplicity, and local benefits are in focus.
As a part of the alignment to the Vietnamese government's system, the Agriculture and Rural Development Programme is using and enhancing the Vietnamese monitoring and evaluation system.
To obtain good understanding of the existing system, a monitoring and evaluation team has visited Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces to talk with authorities at province, district and commune level.
The local authorities revealed strengths and weaknesses, for instance that the communes may have computers, but do not utilize them properly. Furthermore the data collection system is inaccurate.
"We know that the quality of the data needs to be improved to make reliable reports", an officer in Dak Lak admitted and added "Therefore, the Danish support is very welcome".
The system focuses on participatory evaluations in the villages, which will raise awareness and educate the local people and government about constraints and possibilities to help them improve their planning of their future farming.
