St.Mary Eye Hospital has been established in 1988 under the name of St. Mary’s Eye Clinic with the scale of 14 beds, specializing in examination and treatment of eye diseases from common diseases to difficult diseases. The Hospital was founded by Dr. LEE KYUNG HEON, a leading ophthalmologic speacialist in Korea.
In October 1992, St.Mary Eye Clinic was officially upgraded into St.Mary’s Eye Hospital with the scale of 32 beds. In 195, the Hospital had been permitted to open a branch in Sa Sang and upgrade into 52 beds. In this year also, the Hospital appointed as training hospital for ophthalmology. During this 15 years of operation, ST. Mary’s Eye Hospital had performed over 35000 cases of cataract surgery, 25000 cases of Lasik surgery, 1000 cases of Retina surgery and over 24000 cases of other surgery.
In 1996, St. Mary’s Eye Hospital had got relation exchanges and cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City Center (St. paul Eye Hospital) in the form of charity examination, treatment and surgeryprogam for poor patients in HoChiMinh City. Afterward in 2000, the Hospital also had got the relations and cooperations in charity surgery programs with Can Tho General Hospital. During the year of 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002; the St. Mary’s Eye hospital has performed over 10 charity examination, treatment and surgery programs fos poor region of provinces in the Southern of VietNam, of which we can mention to HoChiMinh City, Dong Nai, Can Tho, etc. Totally, the St. Mary’s Eye Hospital has performed over 230 free cases of cataract surgery for the above provinces.
Viet Nam – Korea Eye Hospital is set up in Viet Nam with the specification in provision of medical examination and treatment of diseases specialized on Opthalmology, including: ophthalmologic first-aid, examination and treatment of common eye diseases, cleaning out lacrimal glands, giving under-conjunctiva, pricking styles, operating on entropion, iritis, cataract surgery, Retina surgery, LASIK surgery and other morden treatment methods of eye diseases.
